Sophie Thomas is a Lecturer in English at the University of Sussex, where she teaches a range of subjects, including 18th- and 19th-century literature. She is also a contributor to 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die. Her work appears in Encyclopaedia Britannica as part of a joint publishing agreement with the publisher of 1001 Books You Must Read Before You, where the work originally appeared.
